Johannah Leddy Donovan

In Nov. 2004, I was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives as a Democrat.  It has been a tremendous honor and pleasure to serve as a Citizen Legislator.

I was particularly pleased that I was able to co-sponsor legislation that was passed into law, and to influence many provisions that affect the everyday lives of Vermonters.

Making life better for my community was a value instilled in me by my family.  They taught me about responsibility, and about Tikun Olam, which is Hebrew for "Repairing the World."  I took that task to heart.

I taught Sunday School to third graders and tutored high school students in math.

I also served as President of the Stop AIDS project, a $1.7 million organization that uses community-based organizing to help save lives.

After earning an MBA from Stanford, I founded a small business called Aplomb Consulting.  We strengthen nonprofit organizations and healthcare clinics by providing strategic planning, fundraising, and other vital services.

Many of you know me as a comedian.

Perhaps you have seen me perform at FirstNight, the Flynn Space, Nectar's, Radio Bean, the Rose Street Coop, the Vergennes Opera House, 135 Pearl, or at any number of places throughout Vermont and the U.S.A.  Or maybe you've seen one of my TV commercials, films, or seen me acting on stage.

While I love making people laugh, I also have a very serious side to me -- one that calls me to public service.

Please contact me about your concerns and discuss how we can continue to make Vermont great.
